You may just have been put in the market to buy iPhone or Android phones. If you are using a smartphone from BlackBerry, then here is an alert for you! As of January 4, BlackBerry OS has lost support, which means users of BlackBerry phones may experience difficulties making phone calls, sending text messages, dialling 911, and accessing data. This has le to a number of devices made by BlackBerry to stop working. However, BlackBerry announced the end of support for these devices in September 2020 and then notified affected consumers a few weeks before the deadline.

BlackBerry devices that are affected

BlackBerry 10 phones, which were originally released in 2013, are the most recent smartphones that will be affected. While BlackBerry 7.1 and the PlayBook tablet OS, both of which debuted in 2011, have already been deactivated.

"As a reminder, the legacy services for BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1, and earlier versions will no longer be available after January 4, 2022," BlackBerry said in an online post while reminding the BlackBerry consumers and fans. Devices that use these legacy services and software over a carrier or Wi-Fi connection will no longer function reliably after this date, including data, phone calls, SMS, and 9-1-1 capabilities.

But news is not bad for everyone packing a BlackBerry! BlackBerry fans should know that BlackBerry devices powered by Android launched in 2015 aren't affected by this disabling of the OS.

But, it's time to consider a new iPhone or Android smartphone!

No doubt! BlackBerry owned almost 20 percent of the global smartphone market during 2009 and 2010, but it's time for BlackBerry fans to consider a new smartphone in the constantly developing smartphone market. Getting an Android or iPhone will be a good idea! Especially during the season, when several new Android smartphones are launching this month and even the iPhone has been selling at discount, including iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 series. On the Android side, there are Samsung, Xiaomi, Asus, Vivo and many other brands, which may cost less. It's time for a smartphone upgrade for you!
