Zee5 last month had announced that it would launch a short video sharing platform in India soon. Now, nearly a month later, the company has launched HiPi in India.

HiPi has been launched in beta phase on Android and it will available on iOS in the coming week. The short-video sharing platform isn't a separate app. Rather, it's built into Zee5's existing app. Zee5 users will have to update the apps on their Android phones to use HiPi on their smartphones. However, they will have to sign-up for the app separately.

Simply said, Zee5 users will not be logged into the newly launched video sharing platform automatically. But first-time users will have to log into Zee5 app before they can access HiPi. This move, the company says is aimed at making Zee5 a ‘super entertainment app' while giving users a ‘platform to create fun and entertaining content.'

Zee5 has updated the description on Google Play to reflect the change. “HiPi: A unique video platform to express yourself, your way, in a fun and cool environment,” the company wrote while explaining all the things that users can do with Zee5.

As far as the features are concerned, Zee5 says that HiPi enables users to create videos up to 90 seconds in length and showcase their talent through various unique filters and effects. It also allows them to discover, follow and appreciate content that is being created by others. The company has onboarded over 400 influencers and over 70 Zee TV celebrities and it will add over 100 influencers by December 2020.
