Xiaomi is taking on Amazon and Google with its own streaming dongle. Called Mi TV stick, the new device competes with Amazon's Fire TV stick and Google's popular Chromecast. Priced at ₹2,799, the device is available on mi.com as part of the company's Independence Day sale.
The streaming dongles are great options to those who do not own a smart TV and want to experience OTT apps like Netflix on a larger screen. It also allows users to carry the dongle around and access their favourite apps on a larger screen wherever they go.

Google & Android: Xiaomi's Mi TV runs on the latest Android TV. The application also supports Google's popular voice search via Google Assistant. It also comes with built-in Chromecast.
Streaming quality: Mi TV stick supports up to 1080p (Full HD) resolution. There is no 4K version of the device yet. Amazon's Fire TV stick 4K is available for ₹5,999.
OTT apps: Just like the Fire TV stick, you will be able to download a bunch of popular streaming applications. The catalogue includes Netflix, Eros Now, Voot, Jio Cinema, Alt Balaji, Disney + Hotstar, and Prime Video. The company says the Mi TV stick supports more than 5,000 applications.

Remote: Mi TV stick comes bundled with a remote as well. The remote looks identical to Xiaomi's Mi TV remotes. It has a circular navigation module, hotkeys for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and a dedicated button to launch the voice assistant.

Data saver: Xiaomi has also included its popular Data Saver mode in the Mi TV stick. The feature helps put less burden on your broadband/mobile bandwidth. You can also set alerts for data consumption, similar to how you get on mobile phones.
