Apple pushes out AirPods Max firmware update to deal with battery drain issues

Many users of the Apple AirPods Max have been complaining about battery drain issues on the headphones. This update might help fix those issues.

Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods Max. And while Apple has not provided too many details about what this new update exactly brings in, it does make the over-ear headphones go to version 3C39.

As 9to5Mac reports, there are no release notes for the AirPods Max firmware updates, however, since this comes in at a point in time when many users have been complaining about battery drain issues on the headphones and without the included smart case. Some users have also been reporting issues when the AirPods Max are connected to a Mac.

Some users have also reported that the battery on the AirPods Max drains significantly overnight even when it is placed in the Smart Case. There are reports of AirPods Max's battery drain issues on Apple Support Forums, on Reddit and in other places. AirPods Max owens have been complaining that the batteries are draining significantly overnight - from 100% to 1% or 0% -even when the headphones are in the case. The official smart case from Apple has been designed to make the headphones go into ultra-low power mode and thereby save battery.

This new version of the AirPods Max firmware should help resolve these issues but we shall have to wait and see till the update rolls out to all users.

How to update the AirPods Max:

It's not as easy to manually update your AirPods to the new firmware version. Apple says the new firmware will install when the AirPods are connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth.

To check your AirPods Max's firmware version -

- Open Settings on the iPhone.

- Go to the Bluetooth menu.

- Find your AirPods Max from the list.

- Tap on the ‘i' next to it.

- You will find the ‘Firmware Version' number here.

If your AirPods Max has been updated, you should see it as 3C39. If not, the update should install once you connect your AirPods Max is connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth.
