Google is testing a new weather tile design for the Wear OS smartwatches

The new weather tile design that Google is testing looks minimal and very neat.

The new design features a glyph of the current weather - so you can see the sun in this case, the temperature and the location.

Google seems to be testing a new weather tile design on the WearOS and an image of it has been spotted on Reddit’s /r/WearOS subreddit by a user who goes by the name of ThatCC. The UI on the new design looks clean and minimal and is easy to understand just at a glance.

The new design features a glyph of the current weather - so you can see the sun in this case, the temperature and the location. Just below that you can see the high and the low temperatures of the day.

“They have definitely updated the weather tile, it's so radically different and finally looks like a UI for a smartwatch,” the Reddit user ThatCC wrote.

This design is clean and easy to read and some users will like that but it does sacrifice useful user data such as hourly forecasts and day-by-day forecasts. For now, there is no information about whether users can tweak this interface to make it look like the old one with more widgets or information.

The Reddit thread on this post shows a spate of mixed reactions where some people really like the new minimal look, others are not pleased with the loss of information.

The Reddit user who posted the photo, ThatCC, said that the new tile design showed up on their Fossil Sport so it is possible that Fossil smartwatch owners will get to see this new look first. For now though it looks like a test and Google might have rolled it out in a limited way. More WatchOS users should be able to see this soon.
