G-Shock introduces its new line-up for 2021: Check out the range
G-Shock revealed its new range of watches for 2021 via a global online exhibition. Here’s a look at what’s coming.
Casio’s global online exhibition gave us a look at the watches G-Shock is launching in 2021. The exhibition launched a whole range of new watches that are going to be launched this year across key brands including ones under Casio’s flagship G-Shock brand. These watches will be launched across the year and Casio has not revealed their prices yet. But as we wait to find out, here’s what’s coming -
Titanium Alloy G-Shock GMW-B5000TR
GMWB5000TR, a new addition to the square full metal 5000 series of shock-resistant watches made with titanium alloy. As the company has shared in the press release, the new titanium alloy was developed with Nippon Steel Corporation over a six-year period of R&D. This special alloy promises to deliver “roughly twice the hardness of pure titanium, but still boasts the same lightweight, anti-corrosive and hypoallergenic properties”. The alloy’s hardness makes it possible to produce a mirror finish comparable to stainless steel on titanium, which typically has been difficult to process in this way, as Casio explains. The result is the first titanium G-Shock with a mirror-finished bezel and band.
The GMW-B5000TR comes equipped with Smartphone Link functionality for automatic time adjustment, world time, etc. There is also Casio’s Tough Solar power system, Multiband 6 radio wave reception, and full-auto LED backlight.
The GBA-900 Series of Smartphone Link timepieces come with features that are ideal for running, walking, and other kinds of daily exercise. This watch can measure distance using an accelerometer while linked with the GPS function of your smartphone via Bluetooth. Once you take measurements with a smartphone, the next time you will be able to measure distance with the watch alone.
G-Shock G-LIDE Series
G-LIDE Series of G-SHOCK extreme sports watches have added night surfing designs to the GBX-100. The new models come with the ability to display information required by surfers (high tide and low tide times and levels), and users can take the help of a phone application to select one of approximately 3,300 locations around the globe to track on their devices. The app helps you get surfer-essential tide information and sunrise and sunset times at approximately 3,000 locations worldwide. Besides this, there is a high-resolution MIP LCD with enhanced readability which enables the display of tide graph, moon data, high tide and low tide times, tide levels, and sunrise and sunset times.
These models come with a guard structure that can withstand impact from above, below, left, and right. The bezels are composed of a combination of resin and metal, with stainless steel for the bezel top.
The last of the lot is the smaller version of the G-SHOCK GA-2100 that features an octagonal bezel, flat face, simple bar hour markers, and carbon core guard structure - the GMA-S2100. This watch only 11.2mm thick which is even slimmer than GA-2100 and it comes in four colours - black, red, pink, and white.
Like we’ve mentioned, we don’t know the prices of these watches yet. As and when they are ready to launch here in India, we shall get to know about them.
