Samsung MWC 2021 event is scheduled for later tonight and the South Korean giant has teased announcements of the Galaxy ecosystem of connected devices, future of smartwatches, and latest security updates. Notably, though, Samsung is rumoured to launch a new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 4 during this event. Another important announcement will be of Samsung introducing a new software for the Galaxy Watch which is a combination of its Tizen OS and Google’s Wear OS. That may happen is clear from the fact that, ahead of the event, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 support pages have gone live on Samsung India, Caribbean and Russian websites.

Launch or not? Nothing official about it

However, Samsung hasn’t specifically teased the launch of a new device for its MWC 2021 event but it has mentioned smartwatches. The event poster also features a Galaxy Watch among other devices. The support page of the Galaxy Watch 4 which was spotted by 91Mobiles doesn’t directly confirm the launch for tonight but it does hint at an imminent one. We usually notice support pages of Samsung devices days before the launch so it could well be that the Galaxy Watch 4 may debut sometime later.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is said to come in two sizes of 42mm and 46mm. It will also be available in Wi-Fi, and LTE models. Leaks also suggest the smartwatch will launch in four colour options of black, silver, dark green and rose gold. More features expected on the Galaxy Watch 4 include NFC, 5ATM water resistance, Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ protection, and MIL-STD 810G durability. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is also expected to pack a 240mAh battery, and it could feature a BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis) sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Software

The new software will be the highlight of the Galaxy Watch 4 as it will be the first Samsung smartwatch to drop the Tizen OS. The new Samsung smartwatch will run Google’s Wear OS coupled with Tizen OS features. This would be a result of Samsung and Google working together for the customised software. Samsung said the next Galaxy Watch will support Google Play Store apps including Google Maps, Gmail, and YouTube.

Samsung MWC 2021 Livestream tonight

The Samsung’ MWC 2021 virtual event's livestream is scheduled to take place tonight at 19:15 pm CET which would be 10:45 pm IST for viewers in India. The event will be livestreamed on Samsung’s YouTube channel, Samsung Newsroom website, and the MWC Barcelona website.
