Even as Windows 11 is owing everyone with its announcement about bringing Android apps to the OS, there is a company founded by an Indian origin man in the US that has been doing it for years. (BlueStacks)

Microsoft Windows 11 has shocked the world by announcing it would allow users to do something that was unthinkable - until now. Windows 11 will allow the download and use of Android apps on computers. Notably, Android apps are meant only for smartphones and cannot be downloaded on laptops or personal computers unless a huge number of changes are made to these apps to successfully migrate them to large devices. However, why should users wait till Windows 11 is officially rolled out sometime during the fall when users can actually run these apps on their computers now, courtesy a company set up by an Indian (Rosen Sharma, founder and CEO) called BlueStacks? BlueStacks is an emulator that runs Android apps on Windows computers and Apple macOS too. Also, BlueStacks is free.

Another Microsoft Windows 11 goal is to improve user-experience as far as gaming is concerned by bringing in ever glitzy Xbox features to the OS. In this aspect, BlueStacks is all about gaming and gamers. And considering that BlueStacks has been around for a long time, its features are likely to be ahead of what Windows is offering. What is important is that Bluestacks has been delivering advanced customisable game controls for a long time, while Windows 11 will actually take its first steps in this regard. This is a huge advantage over Windows 11 when it comes to experience and that should help all those who absolutely demand a seamless experience.

System requirements

As far as system requirements are concerned, many Windows 11 prospective users were put off by the message initially that their machines cannot get an upgrade as their systems requirements are not adequate. Bluestacks has just rolled out an update that claims its latest emulator BlueStacks 5, uses 50% less RAM than its previous version. That means it will likely work on older machines without any lag too.

Having said that, Microsoft is a massive organisation with resources that very few can match. Exactly what experience Windows 11 will deliver is still in the realm of conjecture. It does have a massive success in the form of Xbox to fall back on though.

However, till Windows 11 actually rolls out, the spotlight is likely to stay on BlueStacks and its ability to withstand the big challenge thrown by Microsoft.

BlueStacks claims on its website that it has as many as 40 mn monthly active users and over 180 million downloads per year. Till now it has crossed the 1 billion downloads mark.
