Google is planning a major upgrade for Photos

Google has rolled out a number of major updates to Google Photos in recent time. This includes rolling out an Explore page and a Favourites option in Library on the web and the ability to show high-quality photos in bad light. Now, reports hint that the company is planning to roll out a major update to the app soon.

According to a report by Android Police, Google is planning a major revamp for Google Photos. This includes a redesigned user interface and a more intuitive and gives us long-awaited features. The new design does away with the search bar and hamburger menu on top.

As per the screenshot shared by the publication, in the new interface, the search bar and the hamburger on the top has been replaced by the Google Photos logo with the profile option. Under this top section, is the Memories section that is followed by a user’s most recent memories. Below this is a redesigned bottom bar, which now includes Photos, Search, For You, Sharing and Library options. Earlier this section included Photos Album, For You and Sharing options.

On scrolling down a bit further, users will see specific search terms in the form of categories such as Screenshots, Selfies and Videos among other things. Apart from this, users will get easy access to recently uploaded photos there.

That said, this update is being rolled out as a server-side update. So, it is possible that not all users get access to it right away.
