With Realme joining Samsung and Lenovo to jump into the tablet market, it was only a matter of time before we heard Motorola joining the party. Based on the latest rumours, Motorola is planning to launch a new tablet device in India. Expected to be called the Moto Tab 8, this tablet is expected to be based on the Lenovo Tab M8 which already sells in India at a price of 13,999.

Along with the tablet, the company is also planning to launch the new Motorola smart TV, the details of which are unknown yet. Motorola already has a diverse lineup of smart TVs on sale and it seems that the company is set to bring an updated model that offers all the same levels of features and specs as the competition offers.

Moto Tab 8 could be a budget tablet

A report from 91Mobiles suggests that the Moto Tab 8 will be based on the Lenovo Tab M8. This is not surprising given that Lenovo owns Motorola. The Tab M8 has been a budget tablet offering with decent specs to appeal to the budget tablet buyers and Motorola could follow the same route.

To recall, the Lenovo Tab M8 features an 8-inch FHD display. The tablet relies on an octa core MediaTek Helio P22T chip that's accompanied by 4GB RAM. Buyers can usually choose between 32GB and 64GB of onboard storage. Lenovo offers a stock Android user interface and we doubt Motorola will change that, given it sticks to stock Android for all of its smartphone in India.

The Lenovo tablet also comes in in both Wi-Fi and cellular variants. Those wondering about cameras will have to make do with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The whole thing is backed up by a 5000mAh battery.

What remains to be seen is how Motorola goes with the pricing of the Tab 8. Realme recently established its presence in the sub- 20,000 category with the Realme Pad tablet while Samsung dominates with its Galaxy Tab series devices.

While the details on the tablet and smart TV are yet to arrive officially, Motorola is also expected to launch the flagship Edge 20 Pro in India as an addition to the Edge 20 series that launched last month. The company is also expected to launch a Motorola E series budget smartphone, a space where Redmi and Realme have launched new products lately.
