Samsung updates Galaxy M31 to One UI 3.1

Samsung has been on a roll with updating their long list of devices to its One UI 3 interface based on Android 11. But that hasn’t stopped the company from also pushing updates to the more recent One UI 3.1 that released with the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, and the Galaxy M31 is the latest device to receive the update to the latest version of the company’s custom interface.

Readers might recall that the Galaxy M31 was actually the first M series device to receive the Android 11 update with the One UI 3 update in the country in January. Samsung pushed the update to the device two months ahead of its planned schedule. 

The update to OneUI 3.1 was spotted by SamMobile, which arrives with the firmware version M315FXXU2BUC1 and weighs in at over 1GB, so users are advised to download the update when they’re connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

The report states that Samsung is rolling the update out to users in India but you can try and see if the update has rolled out to other regions as well, by heading to Settings and tapping the Software update option and checking for an update. Users who do upgrade will gain access to the new features that Samsung introduced on the Galaxy S21 during its Unpacked event in January.

These features include improvements to the system UI and quick settings interface to add support for Google Home devices alongside Samsung SmartThings, an improved clock app with Bedtime support and other digital wellbeing improvements. 

The phone’s default Samsung gallery app will also allow users to strip out location data from images when they are being shared, which could come in handy to protect your privacy when sending images to friends - or uploading to social media.
