PS5’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not a long game and that’s making people mad

There is also a case to be made for shorter games and not all games need to be “a sprawling open world that’s 20 hours minimum or 50 hours for full exploration”.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 5 is going to be one of the biggest releases for the new console over the coming week and reviews for the game have already started pouring in. One of the main things many reviewers are pointing out is - the game is not long enough.

The Washington Post's Gene Park took eight hours to beat the game while some others said that it took them about 11 to 12 hours. This is being considered to be “too short” by some people since Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a full-priced AAA game.

Forbes' Paul Tassi points out that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not a “full-priced” game since it costs $50 which is $10 less than the standard $60 and $20 less than the new standard for PS games at $70. The $70 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales will get you the Spider-Man base game remaster.

There is also a case to be made for shorter games and not all games need to be “a sprawling open world that's 20 hours minimum or 50 hours for full exploration”.

To say that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not worth $50 because it is a ‘short' game with its eight to 12-hour gameplay is a judgment call many players might make but that does not go to say that there's no space for such low priced, shorter games.

“I do believe Miles Morales deserves a Spider-Man sized game all to himself, but that's not to say this version can't also be good for what it is,” writes Tassi.

“I have many, many games that demand an enormous amount of my time already, whether that's the latest sprawling Assassin's Creed game or some combination of Destiny, Borderlands, Avengers and Genshin Impact which are demanding I do X, Y and Z things every week to keep pace. A single game I can beat in full in 2-3 days can just hit the spot sometimes, and I can't wait for Miles Morales, at any length,” he added.
