1. Search a Specific Phrase

If you want to search for a specific phrase then using “” (double quotes) will help you. Google lists only the double quoted phrases with the same order of words as listed in the phrase. This feature will work great if you want hyper-specific search results and don't want related search results to show up.

2. Use asterisks

* (asterisk) is used while searching for unknown words. For example, you can write “Winston * Churchill” in the search bar to search for Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, the former British Prime Minister during World War II.

3. Search by Voice

If you're tired of typing in Google search, then you can use Google voice search to serve your purpose. If you're browsing on Chrome browser or using Google application on Android or iOS, simply click on the Microphone icon available on the top right corner and say whatever you want to search. The search results will be displayed after receiving the input from you.

4. Use dedicated search tab

Google search page has a dedicated search tab that allows users to specify their search category. For example, if you want to look for an image then click on the Image search tab or if you want to browse news then click on the News tab. Same pplies to Videos, Shopping etc.

5. Use hyphen to exclude words

If you use – (hyphen) between words in the search bar, it will exclude those words from the search results. For example, if you write “buy windows laptop -dell” it will show results that don't contain ‘dell' laptops.

6. Search specific sites

Search specific sites to avoid undesirable results. Simply write Site and put a semicolon before the domain's name and you will get the results. For example, “site:xyz.com android 11” will list results for the search term ‘android 11' from that specific site only.

7. Use @ to search for social media handles

Social media is alive and every moment something new is happening there. So, how to do a Google Search there? While searching for someone's or somethings' social media handle, do it this way: if you want to look for Virat Kohli's instagram handle just wrote ViratKohli@instagram, and it will show results for Virat Kohli's instagram handle and his fan pages.
