Ferrari Chief Executive Officer Louis Camilleri in an announcement on late Thursday evening announced that he was retiring from the company with ‘immediate effects owing to ‘personal reasons’. His abrupt retirement has left a void in the company. Now, the hunt is on to find Ferrari’s next CEO.
While Ferrari Chairman John Elkann has taken the job of leading the company on an interim basis, a new report says that the automaker is looking at Apple CFO Luca Maestri and Apple’s former design chief Jony Ive to fill in this space.
As per a Reuters report, Maestri and Ive are being considered as ‘possible candidates’ for the role of the next Ferrari CEO. Some reports said that former CEO Vittorio Colao was also in the race for the top job. However, sources closer to Colao quashed these reports saying that they were ‘groundless’.
Apart from these reports also suggested that former head of Ferrari of racing team and ex-Lamborghini chief Stefano Domenicali could take up the role. However, F1 dismissed these reports saying that he was looking forward to starting his new job as F1 CEO starting January 1, 2021.
Maestri has served as Apple’s CFO since 2014. Prior to that he served as the company’s vice president of finance and corporate controller. Jony Ive, on the other hand, resigned from Apple in 2019 after holding the position for around 30 years. After Apple, he opened his own company LoveFrom of which Apple is a client.
