Microsoft OneNote and Word for web now let you embed Pinterest Pins

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that OneNote users and customers using Microsoft Word on the web would now be able to embed Pinterest “pins” in a move that is clearly targeted at students and educators.

This isn’t the first time a Microsoft product has built in support for the “collection” platform - last year, Microsoft’s new revamped Edge Browser (which is based on Chromium now) had added support for pushing out your Web “Collections” into Pinterest. The integration with OneNote and Word for web follows many years of requests for the feature, according to a blog post by Microsoft explaining the rollout.

If you want to use the feature right away, you can sign into your Microsoft account and create a new note on OneNote or a new document in Microsoft Word for web, then go to the Pinterest Pin that you want to embed. Now all you have to do is copy the URL of the Pin and paste it directly into the OneNote sheet or on your Word web document and Microsoft’s systems will automatically turn it into an embedded pin. You can also have multiple Pins on a page and they can all be rearranged.

“Over the past few years, we have heard many requests for a Pinterest integration with OneNote. The OneNote binder metaphor, and the ability to easily embed Pinterest Pins interactively in OneNote, organize them, or distribute to others in OneNote Class Notebook, seemed like a great match,” said Mike Tholfsen, Principal Product Manager for the company’s Education team.
