Qualcomm unveiled its new 5G chipset for mid-range phones, while Samsung and Oppo launched new phones in India. Here's today's tech wrap.

There were two smartphone launches today in India. Samsung launched a mid-range phone while Oppo brought its flagship series in India. Qualcomm also unveiled its new chipset which is poised to bring 5G support to mid-range phones.

We also got to see a new virtual world called ‘Hikeland' launched by Hike. And Google is still trying to get more people on Meet with its shortcut integrated in the Gmail app.

So here's a breakdown of everything that made headlines in tech today.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690

Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 690 chipset supports up to 8GB of RAM, 120Hz display, ISRO's Navic and Quick Charge 4.0. It also supports 5G connectivity and it's designed for mid-range phones. Brands like Nokia, Motorola and LG have already confirmed that it will launch new phones with this chipset.

Google Meet

When Google made Meet free for everyone it also launched a new shortcut for the video service. First available for Gmail on the web, the Meet integration is now available on Gmail's mobile app. This shortcut makes it easier to join or start a Meet call.

Hikeland

Hikeland lets users hang out in the virtual world. There are two environments - Home and Big Screen. In Hikeland Home, users can invite their friends and watch YouTube videos together. In Hikeland Home, it's more private as no one can enter without the user's invitation.

Samsung Galaxy A21s launch

Samsung's new mid-range phone Galaxy A21s comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ display, octa-core processor and with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It also has four rear cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery. Galaxy A21s starts at 16,499 for the base model.

Oppo Find X2 series

Oppo launched its flagship Find X2 series in India today. It however revealed the price only of the Find X2 which is 64,990. There are no pricing details of the Find X2 Pro yet. Oppo Find X2 has Snapdragon 865 chipset, 120Hz display, triple rear camera and 5G support.
