From people across different countries, celebrities, and even renowned personalities like US VP Kamala Harris and Indian Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor have spoken about their liking of the game. In fact, the New York Times (NYT) has recently announced that it was able to see a drastic increase in subscriptions to its other gaming assets from the Wordle playing demographic. And although the game itself was simple and innovative, many felt that it had one issue. Players needed to play from the same device every single day to not lose their winning streak. But now, NYT has unveiled a new Wordle feature that will allow players to keep their streak no matter which device they play from. Read on to know more about it.

Wordle was created by Josh Wardle in 2021 for his friends and family but it quickly became viral. In December 2021, NYT acquired the game. At that time, the company stated that it will not be changing anything about the game and players will be able to enjoy the same Wordle experience, a promise it has kept so far. However, in a first, NYT will be making a change to the game to allow maintaining account progress easier for players. There is just one thing you need to do and that is create a NYT account. The feature will be available to both the free and paid members.

On July 12, the New York Times Games Twitter handle posted, “Exciting news, Wordlers. You will soon have the option to link your Wordle stats to your free or existing New York Times account. This means saving stats and your streak across *all* the devices you play Wordle on”.

How to sync account on Wordle

This feature can be crucial to many players who lost their device on which they played Wordle or had to format their device for some reason. And to use this feature, all they need to do is log in to their NYT account on all their devices and then play the game from any device of their choice. According to the NYT, the feature is already being rolled out. But if you have not seen the option, there is no need to worry.

“If you don't see the option to link your account on the device where you play Wordle every day, hold on tight! The feature is coming to you soon,” it said in a follow up tweet. The account also warned that once the statistics have been linked to an account, it cannot be reversed.
