When Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip at the Galaxy Unpacked event earlier in February this year, there was no 5G variant of the foldable flip smartphone. The Galaxy Z Flip came with the Snapdragon 855+ that did not include 5G support. However, the last few weeks have seen ample rumours about Samsung working on a 5G version of the foldable.

The rumours are based mostly on the fact that Samsung has started developing software for a Galaxy smartphone with the code name SM-F707B.

The original Galaxy Z Flip has the model number SM-F700, thus it’s believable that the SM-F707B is a successor of the Z Flip. SM-F is reserved for Samsung’s foldable devices, for example, the Galaxy Fold has the model number SM-F900.

Additionally, the B in the model name is probably indicates 5G support since Samsung has previously added a ‘B’ to model names of devices with 5G support, like the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G (SM-G977B) and the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G (SM-A908B).

The certification has been spotted in a filing online and it ties the marketing name and model number together. According to XDA Developers, this certification has been spotted by the same source that confirmed that the Oppo Find X2 Neo is the same as the Chinese Reno3 Pro, and thus can be considered reliable.
