Xiaomi has released ‘Explorer Editions’ of its phones in the past and these special edition devices came with transparent backs that showed off the internals. The company has done this for the Mi 8 and the Mi 9, but no other devices. However, it looks like Xiaomi has one more in the works.
Going by some photos tweeted by a Xiaomi employee, there is a prototype of a transparent Redmi K30 Pro.
Xiaomi Senior Product Manager Daniel D shared several photos of a Redmi K30 Pro with a transparent back on Twitter recently. He called it a “custom” Redmi K30 Pro, which effectively means that the device is not going to get a general release.
As seen on the photos, this Redmi K30 Pro has a real transparent back, not a sticker. You can see all the internals and the Redmi logo as well.
While this looks very cool, what we see in the photos might just be a device without the colour film. Speculations suggest that if Xiaomi was to create an Explorer Edition of the Redmi K30 Pro, there would be some alterations at least.
It could also be that Xiaomi is trying to gauge user interest in a device with a transparent back. We’ll have to wait and watch.
