Foldable iPhone rumour: Apple leaning towards Galaxy Z Flip-like design and ‘fun’ colours

A while ago, it was speculated that Apple is testing two kinds of foldable iPhone prototypes internally. According to tipster John Prosser, the firm was testing designs which were similar to what we have seen with Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. Now, according to the latest video by Prosser, it has been revealed that the Apple team seems to be leaning more towards the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip-like design for its foldable iPhone.

Prosser says that it is not for sure why Apple has chosen this particular form factor but it has definitely been moved up in the production line. In addition to this, Prosser also talked about the colour variants and Apple’s target audience for its foldable iPhone.

He says that the clamshell iPhone might be coming in ‘fun’ colours similar to what we have seen in iPhone 12. He adds that the device won't have serious colour notes like what we have seen in iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The inclusion of colourful models alsos indicates the kind of audience that Apple could be targeting.

As for the launch timeline, Prosser adds that despite several reports mentioning that foldable iPhones could come in 2022, which is next year, it might just not be the case as the company is not that far along with the idea of a foldable iPhone.

Last month, it was rumoured that the company started testing foldable iPhone prototypes using Samsung’s OLED flexible panel. This means the device is being tested without a visible hinge in the middle. The previous ones were said to feature a hinge in the middle.
