Among a bunch of first-time features that showed up with the launch of the iPhone 14 series, one of the life-saving and much-talked-about features is satellite connectivity. And now, Apple has announced that the emergency SOS via satellite feature will be available to customers in the US and Canada beginning later this month. This will allow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models to connect directly to a satellite, enabling messaging with emergency services when outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

How will it work? Apple says that when an iPhone user will make an Emergency SOS via satellite request, the message will be received by one of Globalstar’s 24 satellites in low-earth orbit traveling at speeds of approximately 16000 mph. Later, it will send the message down to custom ground stations located at key points all over the world. Not just that, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users can launch their Find My app and share their location via satellite connectivity in the absence of cellular or WiFi connection.

If you purchased a new iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, then you should know how to enable the Satellite feature in case of an emergency. Know here in detail.
