However, as we entered the age of 4G and cheaper internet services, mobile networks are still playing a game of catch up. Due to infrastructural restrictions, we still have many geographies where patchy internet and slow speed is a normal occurrence. Sometimes the problem is that the telecom companies are not able to handle the huge amount of traffic that overloads their telecom towers. While you can't change the telecom companies' behaviour, you can do something on your handset to boost your mobile internet speed. These internet tips and tricks can give a boost to your mobile internet speed.

How to speed up phone internet

1. Clear your Cache

Yes, Cache doesn't only increase your internal storage space but can also speed up your slow mobile internet. Cache does not only weigh down the mobile processes but also internet speed. If you have not cleared your cache in a long time, give it a shot. It will definitely increase your internet speed.

2. Close your apps

While smartphones today can work just fine even with multiple apps running in background, it might not be the case for your mobile internet. The more devices you have running, the slower your internet speed will be. Close some of these apps and you should see a considerable boost to your internet speed.

3. Turn off auto update for your apps

App update is another way your smartphone drains your internet speed. While app updates take place quietly in the background, you feel its effect while using the phone. An effective solution is to turn off your app update and just manually update them before you go to bed so that you can wake up to a completely updated smartphone the next day.

4. Use a different browser/lite apps

This will not exactly increase your mobile internet speed but will make your existing bandwidth much more efficient. Many apps today come with a lite version which requires less data to run. Similarly different browsers also have different data requirements. Opera mini, for example, is a data efficient browser that will make your internet speed feel faster.

5. Reset your network setting

A very big problem that often stays hidden is the one on your phone. Your network setting may be on automatic by default and this can often create problems and cause a internet to slow down. This Internet tip will actually stop your unstable internet speed. All you have to do is pick up your phone and reset your Network Setting, just follow these simple steps. Go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network operator > Select automatically > Turn off. After this, just manually look for your network provider (Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio or Airtel) and tap on it. You will have to restart your phone.

Step 1:

Go to Settings.

Step 2:

Look for Connections.

Step 3:

Go to SIM card manager.

Step 4:

Tap on Mobile data or Mobile networks.

Step 5:

Tap on LTE/3G/2G (auto connect).

Tap out of Settings.
