Moto G50 ‘Saipan’ leak spills the beans on specs and looks

Motorola could be prepping to launch another smartphone in the Moto G50 series. The handset is codenamed Saipan, and it is tipped to include a MediaTek SoC. For reference, there is another Moto G50 model, which is codenamed Ibiza, and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset. The official-looking renders of Moto G50 5G 'Saipan' were recently shared by tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks). Now, notable leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer has partnered with Pricebaba to reveal more details about the upcoming product.

According to the tipster, the Moto G50 5G 'Saipan; could feature a 6.5-inch HD+ (720x1,600 pixels) display with a waterdrop-style notch for the selfie camera. It is said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. Moreover, it could be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. These specifications suggest a budget device in the making.

On the optics front, the Moto G50 5G 'Saipan' is expected to sport a triple rear camera setup led by a 48MP primary camera. It could have a 13MP selfie shooter as well. As per the renders, the smartphone is likely to have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Coming to connectivity options, you are likely to get NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and more. The device is said to come in Cosmo and Iron colour options. However, there are no details on the battery capacity yet.

There is another Moto G50 codenamed Ibiza. One of the prominent differences between Ibiza and Saipan is that of the processor. As mentioned above, the former will run on Snapdragon 480 SoC, while the latter could be powered by the Dimensity 700 SoC. Further, when compared to Ibiza, the back gets a square-shaped housing for its triple rear camera setup on the Saipan. Plus the fingerprint sensor has also been moved to the side and doubles up as the power button.
