Redmi Note 12 series comes to India as 2023 begins. This year, Xiaomi is bringing the same Redmi Note 12 series devices that China got a few months ago. There are three models this year right from the beginning – an entry level Redmi Note 12, a beefed up Redmi Note 12 Pro, and a top-of-the-line Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. The phones will go on sale starting January 11 and the range starts from Rs. 17999.
Before heading into the specifications, here is a quick rundown of the prices. The Redmi Note 12 starts at Rs. 17999 for the base variant with 4GB/128GB, Rs. 19999 for the variant with 6GB/128GB. Buyers can get Rs. 1500 off on this one.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro starts at Rs. 24999 for the base variant with 6GB/128GB, Rs. 26999 for the top variant with 8GB/128GB, and Rs. 27999 for the variant with 8GB/256GB.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus starts at Rs. 29999 for the base variant with 8GB/256GB, Rs. 32999 for the variant with 12GB/256GB. ICICI Bank cardholders can avail a discount of Rs. 3000 on this one, or an exchange bonus of Rs. 3000 on older devices. There is an additional Rs. 1000 off on exchanging existing Mi or Redmi device. The same offers apply for the Redmi Note 12 Pro.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G is the maxed out variant of the series. The highlight here is the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor, which makes it the most affordable phone with this sensor. This is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera. The front camera has a 16MP sensor for selfies.
Rest of the phone features a 6.67-inch 120Hz 10-bit AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and support for Dolby Vision, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, which is accompanied by up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Redmi is using a 3000mm vapour chamber cooling to keep temperatures under control. There is a 4980mAh capacity battery keeping the phone alive and uses the 120W charger to fill up the battery in 19 minutes, claims Xiaomi India. The 120W charger is available in the box. The 3.5mm headphone jack and the IR blaster also stays.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro, on the other hand, is largely the same phone as the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus with a few exceptions. The design changes here with flat sides but the overall layout is identical to the other models. The main camera is using a 50MP Sony IMX766 with OIS but the rest of the camera sensors remain unchanged. The battery capacity is limited to 5000mAh capacity and you only get the 67W wired fast charging.
Lastly, there’s the Redmi Note 12, which is the entry level model you can buy today. The phone comes with a 6.67-inch gOLED display having an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip, and runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12. The camera setup consists of a 48MP main and 2MP depth camera at the back, as well as an 8MP selfie camera. A 5000mAh capacity battery powers the entire thing and you only get a 33W wired charging solution here.
