Samsung may soon stop offering Exynos-based Galaxy S20 Fan Edition

Samsung may soon stop making the Exynos variant of its Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE). 

According to leakster Ice Universe, Samsung will phase out the Exynos (990) version of the phone and replace it with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ processor. 

The leak follows rumours of Samsung working on a new Galaxy S20 FE variant with a 4G chip and Snapdragon processor. Rumours also claimed that the phone would come with 6GB of RAM and Android 11 out-of-the-box.

In case you do not know, Samsung had launched the Galaxy S20 FE in September last year. The company then offered both 4G and 5G versions of the phone. The 4G version featured the Exynos 990 SoC, while the 5G model had Snapdragon 865 processor.

While the 4G variant launched in India last year, Samsung recently launched the 5G version here. Available at a special introductory price of ₹47,999, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G comes with a 6.5-inch sAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is available in Cloud Navy, Cloud Mint and Cloud Lavender colours. The smartphone features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. It also comes with a microSD card slot that supports expandable storage up to 1TB. It packs a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.

In the photography department, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G houses a triple-camera setup on the back. It consists of a 12-megapixel wide sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor. On the front, it comes with a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Apart from a new version of the S20 FE, Samsung is also reportedly working on the next-gen Fan Edition of the phone. Dubbed as the S21 FE, the phone is said to come with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Just like the predecessor, it would also come in both 4G and 5G versions. Other leaked features of the phone are 128GB and 256GB storage options and Android 11 out-of-the-box. The handset is likely to launch in August this year.
