Snapchat down: Lost Snapstreaks? Here’s what you need to do

Popular photo-messaging application Snapchat went down for several Android users earlier this week. The app started crashing one day after Snapchat announced that it was rolling out a new "lens explorer" to allow users to browse through thousands of lenses created by the app in recent months,

According to a third-party tracker Downdetector, Snapchat users in the UK were mainly affected by the crash. The tracker received over 2,000 live outage reports in last 24 hours. The live Snapchat outage map reveals that the app went down for some users in Europe and US.

"We're aware many Snapchatters are experiencing crashing on the app. We're looking into it and working on a fix!" Snapchat Support said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Many users took to social media and expressed the issues they were facing with the app. A lot of users also complained that they had lost their "Snapstreaks" - an emoji indicator that appears when a user Snaps (not text) to their friend for more than three consecutive days.

If you are among those users who lost their Snapstreaks, here's how you can restore it.

First you need to visit Snapchat's help website, and choose contact us.

Next, click on "My Snapstreaks disappeared".

If you lost Snapstreak because you or your friend waited for over 24 hours to Snap, you may have to start all over again. But if it's not the case, click on "yes" next to the option "need help with something else."

If your claim is valid, Snapchat will respond to you over the email, and restore the Snapstreaks.
