Samsung Galaxy A51 receives Android 11 update a month early

Once considered slow and unreliable with update schedules, Samsung seems unstoppable this year, rushing past the competition with its Android 11 upgrades to eligible phones much ahead of its update program for the year. The South Korean giant is now rolling out its One UI 3.0 upgrade based on Android 11 to the Galaxy A51.

The update to the latest version of Android is now rolling out to users in Russia, according to a report by SamMobile. The firmware version on the update is A515FXXU4DUB1, and it brings Android’s February security patches to the device. This is not irregular, Samsung and other manufacturers receive the Android security patches from Google a month in advance so it had ample time to test them along with the Android 11 upgrade itself.

The Galaxy A51 joins the Galaxy Note10 Lite, Galaxy M31 and the Galaxy M21, which were all upgraded to One UI 3 with Android 11 two months before they were supposed to receive the update. The two other devices that are scheduled to receive the upgrade in March are the Galaxy A70, Galaxy M30s - but looking at Samsung’s pace so far, they are likely to receive it by the end of February.

Samsung’s updates to the phones mentioned above follow a brisk update of its phones in December and January - we reported last month that by rolling out the updates to the Galaxy S10, S20, Note 10, Note 20 series, plus the Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2, the company had officially updated devices it had planned to update until February, which means that the once slow-with-updates manufacturer could very well be the new Android update king.
