OnePlus 6 blind test pits its dual camera against Apple iPhone X, other flagship phones

OnePlus loves the "flagship killer" moniker. Since the original OnePlus One, the company has been taking on flagship phones by delivering top-of-the-line features at almost half the price that of rivals.

This time around OnePlus's latest smartphone OnePlus 6 will take on the current flagships, AApple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9, and Google Pixel 2.

Ahead of the launch, OnePlus has posted a new teaser where its OnePlus 6 camera takes on the rivals. In the teaser, OnePlus has shared four camera samples taken by different flagship phones, including OnePlus 6 and left it to the fans to guess which photo has been taken by which phone.

The photos focus on a building in broad day light conditions. The surroundings include a clear sky and greenery around. A few fans have guessed that the photo sample D is by the new OnePlus 6 though sample A also looks quite impressive in terms of colour balance, details and shadows. The teaser comes as OnePlus phones has lagged behind the competition in terms of camera. For instance, OnePlus 5T delivered near-excellent performance, but didn't really upstage Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 phones in the camera department. OnePlus 5T, however, did get away with its affordable price tag. OnePlus 6, however, looks like the phone where the company has extensively focused on the camera.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had shared a few camera samples from the latest OnePlus 6 a few weeks ago. The shots indicated that the camera can deliver richer details.

According to rumours, OnePlus 6 will come with a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors. On the front, it's likely to come with a 16-megapixel camera.

OnePlus 6 Renders
Ahead of the official launch, folks at CompareRaja blog and tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka @OnLeaks released CAD renders of OnePlus 6. The unofficial renders claim to give a closer look at the new smartphone. Based on these images, OnePlus 6 appears to be highly similar to the older OnePlus 5T, except for a glass back panel. The base features USB Type-C port along with 3.5mm headphone jack and speaker grilles. The rear comes with vertically aligned dual-camera setup, cubical fingerprint scanner, and the company branding. The front has a near edge-to-edge panel with a slim chin at the base and notch on the top.

OnePlus 6 Specifications
OnePlus 6 is likely to come with a 6.28-inch AMOLED display. It has been confirmed to have Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB RAM. The company has also said there will be a 256GB storage version of the phone.

Other rumoured specifications include 6GB RAM/128B storage, 3,300mAh with Dash Charge 2.0, and Android 8.1 Oreo-based OxygenOS.

OnePlus 6 India Launch
OnePlus will be launched in India on May 17, with the first sale will beginning on May 21 via Amazon India. The smartphone is scheduled to be globally announced on May 16 in London. The first sale in India is exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers. Ahead of the launch, OnePlus has announced a OnePlus 6 Fast AF Sale that will allow customers to get the phone on the first day of the sale, with extended warranty and ₹1,000 Amazon Pay cashback. The company will also be hosting pop-up events on May 21 and May 22 across eight Indian cities for offline sales.
