Samsung The Frame TV gets slimmer, and portrait mode in 2021

Samsung has launched a series of new TVs at its event ahead of CES 2021. Among these include a new addition to ‘The Frame’ TV series, and the latest model can be displayed in portrait mode. The 2021 version of The Frame is also thinner by almost half of previous models.

The Frame’s highlight is that it can double as a picture frame for times when the TV isn’t in use. The 2021 version of The Frame can do that and also change its orientation. This is different from Samsung’s rotating TV called ‘The Sero’ that automatically rotates to portrait and landscape orientations. The 32-inch and 43-inch models of The Frame can be displayed in both portrait and landscape modes.

The Frame comes in more sizes going up to 75 inches. In addition to a slimmer design, Samsung has also added new attachable bezels to The Frame. There are five colour options and two customisable styles, ‘Modern’ and ‘Beveled’ to choose from for The Frame. It also comes with 4K QLED resolution that’s already available in the 2020 models.

Samsung also offers a subscription to The Frame’s Art Store that gives access to over 1,400 curated art pieces. The collection features paintings, photos, landscapes and abstract art as well. Samsung says the new AI-based auto-curation technology will recommend artwork based on the user’s preference.

Samsung hasn’t revealed the pricing and availability details for The Frame 2021. It only said that the new TVs will start shipping later this year.
