PUBG Mobile India launch: 4 important things that have recently happened

We know that PUBG Corp has gotten its India return blueprint down and is working towards getting the much-loved battle royale, PUBG Mobile, back to India as PUBG Mobile India. There have been reports suggesting that the game might launch by the first week of December, but other reports suggest that the wait might be longer.

However, PUBG Corp has been teasing the return and the launch of PUBG Mobile India for weeks now and social media handles and teaser videos are also in place.

While we still try to zero in on a date, here are some important things that have happened around the PUBG Mobile India launch in the meanwhile -

No permission from MeitY yet

Going by a report from InsideSport, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has not granted permission to PUBG Mobile India to start operating in the country.

Just to remind you, PUBG Corp set up the Indian subsidiary for PUBG Mobile India recently and it is a registered company.

The report quotes sources who said that any banned entity cannot start operations by just floating a new company. They will need to get permissions from MeitY to operate in India.

A registered company but no launch date yet

PUBG Corp registered the new company recently and it is called PUBG India Pvt Ltd. The company is registered in Bengaluru.

December first week date might be incorrect

Recent reports indicated that the new battle royale might be launched as early as the first week of December, between December 1 and December 5, however, the company itself is yet to officially announce anything.

The deal with Microsoft Azure

This happened a while ago, but it’s important in the scheme of things. Krafton, PUBG Corp’s parent company, signed a deal with Microsoft Azure for it to host the PUBG games. This clearly indicates that the PUBG Corp is looking to reduce Chinese connections.
