Apple discontinues its iMac Pro, hints Apple Silicon iMac to launch soon

Apple is finally discontinuing its iMac Pro desktop computer. Although there is no direct mention on the website by the iPhone maker. It is currently selling the base configuration of iMac Pro desktop on its online store with a sign that says “while supplies last” indicating that the device has been discontinued and Apple is only selling the remaining stock.

This also means that you can no longer configure the computer and this default configuration sold by Apple is the only option available right now. While this was first noticed by 9to5Mac, Apple later confirmed that the product is discontinued to The Verge.

iMac Pro is the more powerful version of the standard iMac as it features workstation-grade Intel Xeon processors with ECC memory and AMD Radeon Pro graphics. It also came with improved cooling performance over the standard iMac and had an exclusive Space Grey colour with matching accessories.

The discontinuation also stirs up the rumour that Apple may soon update its standard iMac with the ARM based Apple Silicon sometime later this year. The upcoming device will be more powerful and may be more powerful than the highest variant available right now. It is being said that Apple may also bring a new design for its future iMacs.

There have already been some rumours around it. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in January, Apple's Face ID recognition software, which was originally said to be coming in this year’s iMac redesign, is now pushed to the second iteration of the redesign. Bloomberg has previously reported that the redesigned iMac models will come with slimmer bezels around the display and no metal chin. The device is also said to look similar to the Pro Display XDR monitor that Apple launched in 2019.
