Huawei’s HMS now has 1.4 million registered developers

The US recently moved to cut off Huawei from the global supply of chipmakers. Amid the escalating trade tension between the US and China, the company has announced that its Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) that replaced Google Mobile Services in its phones is growing stronger every day.

Speaking at Huawei’s 17th Global Analyst Conference, President of Huawei’s Consumer Business, Wang Yanmin, announced that the HMS’s registered developers had increased by 15%, GizChina reported. The executive said that HMS had 1.3 million registered developers back in February this year. This number has increased to 1.4 million recently.

This development comes roughly two months after the company announced that its AppGallery is the world’s third largest app store after Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store. “Huawei AppGallery is one of the world's top three application stores, serving over 600 million Huawei device users in over 170 countries/regions with a rich curation of global and local apps," the company had said at the time.

At the time, the company had also said that over 55,000 applications had been integrated with the HMS Core.

As mentioned earlier, the US has imposed fresh sanctions over Huawei. As a part of the new rules by the Commerce Department, companies require licenses for sales to Huawei of semiconductors made abroad with US technology, which vastly extends the country’s reach to halt exports to the world’s second largest smartphone maker.

Responding to the development, Huawei has announced that its business will invariably be impacted by the US’ move to restrict the sales of chips to the Chinese company.
