On Windows 11, Microsoft Teams Chat now available; will you be able to download it? Find out here

Microsoft announced its Windows 11 operating system at a special event last month. While introducing the Windows 10 successor, the company had announced that it would integrate Teams Chats directly in Windows 11, which would enable users to communicate with their friends and family. Now, an update later, Microsoft has brought Teams Chats to its Windows 11 operating system for download purposes. Before you go rushing off to try and download Windows 11 with Teams chat, just know Microsoft hasn’t rolled out the OS officially as yet - It is scheduled to arrive in fall this year. The Windows 11 Teams Chat feature is available only to Windows Insider users at the moment. It will be available to all Windows 11 users when the OS is formally rolled out. This news was confirmed by Microsoft in a blog post.

Windows 11 Taskbar: Microsoft said that the Teams Chat icon is available in the Taskbar in Windows 11. Alternatively, Windows Insider users can access it by using WIN+C keyboard shortcut. The company said, when opened, users will see their most recent individual and group conversations at a glance. From here, they will be able to respond to messages or start a new chat or call. “Just like the Start menu, you can pop open Chat at any time – it doesn’t matter what other windows you have up – to kick off a communication and it will then dismiss,” Microsoft’s senior product manager Brandon LeBlanc wrote in the blog post.

Users who want the full windowed experience can click on the “Open Microsoft Teams” from the Chat flyout or launch it directly from the Start Menu or Search.

Windows 11 notifications: Apart from this, the company said that Windows Insider users are also getting access to notifications with inline replies. The company said that when other users contact a user, they will receive native notifications and that they will be able to respond directly inline to text chats. “You can accept or decline calls directly from the notifications and decide whether you want to pick up as audio-only or with video, too,” the Microsoft executive added in the blog post.

Windows 11 Add Contacts: Additionally, the company said that now users will be able to add contacts via an email address or phone number and that they will be able to sync all their existing contacts automatically. Users who have used Skype or Outlook for personal communications with their Microsoft Account in the past will have the option to sync those contacts to start using them from day one. They will also be able to sync contacts from their smartphones by installing the Teams mobile app and turning on contact sync.
