The objective of the Chandrayaan-4 mission is to move around a really heavy rover on the lunar grounds, survive the lunar night and find water. The sole purpose of the mission would be to conduct in-depth research about the lunar surface in the polar region. (JAXA)

Finding water on the Moon is integral for the mission and for various other problems that it could solve. As per experts, the polar region consists of water which could be used for future space missions. With lunar water, space missions can aim at going to farther planets. (ISRO)
