Disney+ Hotstar brings 4K UHD streaming with Togo

Disney+ Hotstart is planning major upgrades to its service. Last month, reports hinted towards the service testing 4K HDR resolution on Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Android TV. Now, word is that the OTT service has started testing content in 4K UHD resolution.

According to a report by Only Tech, has enabled 4K Ultra HD resolution on its platform enabling subscribers to stream the movie Togo with a bitrate of up to 22.4Mbps.

As per the report, the 4K listing option went live for Togo on late Tuesday night following which some users were able to stream the movie in 4K UHD resolution. This option, however, is available only on Android TV. The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K users, on the other hand, are getting the option to stream the movie in full HD resolution. The movie also supports Dolby 5.1 audio technology.

This means that if you are watching the movie on any other device, your laptop, for instance, you won’t be able to watch the movie in 4K UHD resolution.

Apart from the 4K UHD resolution, Disney+ Hotstart is also testing 4K HDR resolution on its streaming platform. A separate report by the publication says the streaming service is testing 4K HDR resolution for streaming video. This feature, just like the 4K Ultra HD resolution quality, is available only on the Fire TV Stick 4K and Android TV so far.

Additionally, the streaming service is also testing Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG functionality. These features are available under the Display HDR stats. While Android TV is showing HDR10 and Dolby Vision functionalities, Fire TV Stick 4K is showing 3840x2160 resolution at 60Hz refresh rates.
