LG’s Samsung Galaxy S9-rival will feature a Boombox speaker, DTS 3D Surround Sound

LG is gearing up to launch its latest flaghship smartphone, G7 ThinQ on May 2. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed a lot of details of its new smartphone, which will compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Apple iPhone X. The latest from LG is that its G7 ThinQ will feature a Boombox speaker which will increase audio output by 6 decibels.

The Boombox speaker which will be placed inside the phone will also double as the bass output on the G7 ThinQ. Here's where it gets interesting. LG says that placing the smartphone on top of a wooden or iron surface it amplify the sound like a woofer.

LG is known for enhancing audio output on its smartphones. LG G6 comes with Hi-Fi Quad DAC which delivers a clear and crisp sound when used with headphones, and also claims to reduce ambient noise levels by 50%. LG G7 ThinQ will also come with the same feature.

Another audio feature on the G7 ThinQ is DTS:X 3D Surround Sound which as the name suggests will recreate 3D sound for headphones. LG G7 ThinQ will be the first smartphone to incorporate this technology.

As for the rest of the specifications, LG G7 ThinQ is expected to feature a 6.1-inch QHD+ edge-to-edge display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone could sport a dual-camera setup at the rear comprising of two 16-megapixel sensors. LG G7 ThinQ is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor along with AI capabilities which would have a dedicated button on the side. In terms of memory, there could be possible variants of 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM with storage options of 64GB, 128GB and even 256GB.

LG's launch event will take place on May 2 in New York, followed by an unveiling on May 3 in Seoul.
