WhatsApp for long has been working on a feature called multi-device support. Reports in the past have already detailed the way this upcoming feature would work. And now, a new report has made a big revelation - it has mentioned exactly when users will get to use this WhatsApp feature.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon enable users to test the first version of its multi-device support feature. The feature will be available as a part of its beta program. This means that users of WhatsApp beta for Android and WhatsApp beta for iOS users will be able to use this feature on downloading the latest version of WhatsApp’s beta app on their smartphones.

“Early access to multi-device beta will be available very soon, so you can use WhatsApp Web without an internet connection on the phone,” the blog site wrote in a post on Twitter.

The blog site also shared a screenshot containing a pop-up that will appear when users get the multi-device support functionality in the app. The pop-up informs the users that with this new WhatsApp feature, they will be able to use the app on up to four devices at once without keeping their phones -- the one with their registered WhatsApp numbers -- online. The pop-up contains two buttons. While the Learn More button will share more details regarding the working of WhatsApp’s multi-device support feature, the OK button will simply be an acknowledgement for the same. Users will be able to add support for new devices by going to the Account section in WhatsApp’s Settings section.

For those who haven’t been keeping a track of WhatsApp’s development, the app’s upcoming feature will enable users to operate their WhatsApp account from up to four additional devices, such as a tablet or their personal computer, without having an active internet connection on their smartphones, which is the case with using WhatsApp Web right now. WhatsApp users, as per reports, will be able to use this feature via WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop and Facebook Portal.

It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp boss Will Cathcart and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg have already confirmed that multi-device support functionality is coming to WhatsApp this year. While they did not detail an exact timeline of availability, with the feature arriving on WhatsApp’s beta app, it’s not hard to guess that it will arrive in the main app soon.
