Windows 11 Media Player app REVEALED; take a first look before release date

Microsoft Windows 11 release date is October 5, which is in just five days and the company has been dropping Insider Previews of the upcoming operating system upgrade for the past couple of months now. These Windows 11 preview builds have revealed a lot that has changed with the Windows 11 upgrade --- after all, it is the biggest upgrade to the operating system since Windows 10 was introduced in 2015. From brand new features, support for Android applications and redesigned system themes, there’s a lot to look at on Windows 11. System apps are also receiving a fresh coat of paint and the latest to receive one appears to be the Windows 11 Media Player app.

Microsoft has previously updated Snipping Tool, Clock, Calculator, Paint, Tips apps on earlier Windows 11 Insider Preview builds, and now the Windows 11 Media Player app appears to be the latest one to join the list. Users on Windows 10 will note that the default player for videos is the Movies and TV app, but it looks like the new Media Player app could be coming to Windows 11 as the main media player.

According to a report by Windows Central, the new Windows 11 Media Player app was spotted on Reddit, after a Windows Insider webcast. Thanks to the image shared by the Reddit user, we now have our first look at what Windows 11 Media Player could bring to the table. At first glance, it looks like the Windows 11 Media Player could come with regular controls and a seek bar, which is pretty much the same as the older Windows Media Player app that ships with the current and older versions of Windows.

More interestingly, the screenshot strongly suggests that Microsoft’s redesigned Clock app’s Focus Sessions feature could be integrated with the Windows 11 Media Player app. Focus sessions are designed to help users focus on time and efficiency while working and integrate with Microsoft To-Do, so it will be interesting to see what Microsoft will bring to the table -- if it does integrate these two features in the Windows 11 update that is scheduled to land on Monday.
