Xiaomi Mi A2, A2 Lite: India launch on August 8; price, specifications and features

Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled two new smartphones, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite at an event in Spain. The two new phones are the successor to the last year's popular Mi A1, the first Xiaomi phone to run stock Android instead of custom MIUI ROM, and part of Google's revamped Android One initiative.

Xiaomi announced that it will be launching its new Android smartphones in India on August 8. Both the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite smartphones will come to India. Details on the storage variants and colours haven't been confirmed as yet.

Xiaomi Mi A2 starts at €249 (₹20,000 approximately) for the base model, and €349 (₹28,000 approximately) for the top-end variant. Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is priced at €179 (₹14,000 approximately), while the 4GB + 64GB model carries a price tag of €229 (₹18,000 approximately).

Xiaomi Mi A2: Full specifications
Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. This means the phone will have slimmer bezels around the screen, like other Xiaomi phones have launched this year. Apart from slimmer bezels, Xiaomi Mi A2 continues to be a mid-range focused phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor under the hood. The performance is coupled with multiple RAM variants - 4GB and 6GB.

In the camera department, Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a dual-rear camera setup which consists of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor with f/1.75 aperture, LED flash. The camera comes with various AI-based features as seen on Redmi Y2 and other Xiaomi phones this year. On the front, Xiaomi Mi A2 has a 20-megapixel selfie camera capable of delivering bokeh mode (DSLR-like shallow depth-of-field).

In terms of connectivity, Xiaomi Mi A2 supports Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and dual-SIM. It is powered by a 3,010mAh battery. The phone does not come with microSD slot and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite: Full specifications
A stripped down variant of the Mi A1, the Lite model comes with a relatively smaller display 5.84-inch full-HD+ display. Under the hood runs a slightly inferior Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB built-in storage and supports microSD card for expandable storage.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite sports a dual-camera setup consisting of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel sensor. Other key features of the phone include Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE, dual-SIM, microUSB, and 4,000mAh battery.
