FAU-G opens up Android registrations ahead of Jan 26 release

Fearless and United Guards (or FAU-G) has remained India’s much-hyped answer to the globally popular multiplayer shooter, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The game, which is slated for a January 26 release, has now opened registrations for Android users. However, it looks like not everyone will be able to sign up right away.

According to a tweet posted recently by the game’s developer nCORE Games, registrations are now open for Android users running OS8 (basically those with Android Oreo 8.0) and above, which means the game should work on your phone if you purchased it within the last four years. However, your phone will likely still require a recent processor and ample memory to run the game.

In an unusual turn of events, it looks like iOS users will be the ones to wait this time as the developers do not seem to have included any information on registrations opening up for them at this point. Android gamers usually have to wait for months, sometimes even years, for games that release on iOS to slowly make their way to the platform.

Announced nearly immediately by actor Akshay Kumar after the government banned a slew of apps in the country that included PUBG among other apps and games, FAU-G has quickly become one of the most anticipated games expected to be released this year. It has already fought off rumours and conspiracy theories about the conceptualization of the app, and succeeded in getting a Mumbai court to pass an interim order in September. It is expected to face serious competition from Call of Duty: Mobile and Fortnite, which have already amassed a large number of users.

Users with compatible devices can head over to the Play Store and pre-register for the game, which is expected to be released tomorrow. Game developers that offer their games for pre-registration usually add “perks” like customised gear, or in-game credits. However, the only perk mentioned on the app’s Play Store listing is that it “will install automatically.”
