Galaxy A72 could be Samsung's first penta-camera phone

Samsung is expected to launch its first smartphone with five cameras soon. The penta-camera setup is said to debut on the Galaxy A72. Nokia 9 PureView is the world’s first phone with a penta-camera setup but this would be a first for Samsung.

According to a report by Korean publication The Elec, Samsung Galaxy A72 will house five cameras at the rear. The combination is said to feature a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 5-megapixel macro sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, the Galaxy A72 will reportedly house only one camera which would be a 32-megapixel camera.

Samsung Galaxy A72 is also rumoured to come with optical image stabilisation (OIS) making it the first in the Galaxy A-series. Along with the Galaxy A72, Samsung could launch the Galaxy A52 as well. This one is said to continue with the quad-camera setup. Galaxy A52 will be an upgrade over the Galaxy A51 which comes with a 4,000mAh battery, Exynos 9611 SoC, and up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The report adds that Samsung expects around $30 million from the combined sales of the new Galaxy A-series phones. Samsung hasn’t teased or announced its upcoming Galaxy A-series phones yet. Going by the company’s schedule the Galaxy A72 and Galaxy A52 could launch sometime in December or early 2021.

Samsung is scheduled to introduce a new Galaxy F smartphone series next month. Galaxy F41 will be the first phone in the series, and it will launch on October 8. The smartphone is so far confirmed to pack a 6,000mAh battery and an sAMOLED display.
