Oh no! This iPhone 14 leak reaffirms every Apple fan’s BIGGEST fear

The iPhone 14 is one of the more peculiar launches expected in years! On the surface, we are getting four models as usual but there are changes inside. Other than the iPhone 14 Max, the biggest change that we are expecting with the iPhone 14 series in general is choice of the chipset. Leaks have so far suggested that Apple may be willing house the older A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 once again this year for the iPhone 14 models. Another leak related to the iPhone 14 reaffirms this today.

Based on a new report from TrendForce, it is aid that Apple will introduce four new iPhone 14 models. Out of these, only two models will get the new A16 Bionic chip, which are the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, on the other hand, will come with last year’s A15 Bionic chipset. Previous rumours suggested that all models will use 5nm chips but the A16 Bionic on the Pro variants will offer slightly better efficiency and performance.

iPhone 14 vanilla models getting same old chip

This will be in a long time since Apple reused an older chip for its newest iPhone model. The A15 Bionic chip debuted on the iPhone 13 series last year and had variations for the Pro models, which featured an extra GPU core. Later, Apple brought the A15 chip to the iPhone SE 2022, thereby giving it improved performance and support for 5G networks. Apple is now planning to bring the chip to iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max.

Will this be a good idea for those wanting to upgrade from the iPhone 13? The A15 Bionic chip is fast and efficient, and in the real world scenario, we think it would be virtually as fast as the “new” A16 Bionic chip from the iPhone 14 Pro. The 5nm chip may not be as cutting-edge as the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 but we all know how things work in the real world — iPhone are always faster and way more power efficient.

Rumours say that Apple had the option to go for a 4nm chip with the iPhone 14. The performance gains were minimal and Apple decided to stick to the 5nm chip. It will be the iPhone 15 that is expected to use the new 3nm chips, where the gains will be substantial.
