Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 reportedly goes in mass production, may launch in August

Samsung has already launched a foldable phone this year in the form of Galaxy Z Flip. Before the launch, the device was heavily rumoured to be the Galaxy Fold successor or the Galaxy Fold 2 as many were calling it. However, that did not happen. But based on recent leaks and rumours it is suggested that Galaxy Fold 2 still exists and the company’s Z Flip might not be the only foldable handset by the South Korean tech giant in 2020. While we have some idea about the device from the past leaks and rumours, now, a fresh report states that it has gone for mass production already.

As per the South Korean publication Daily Hankooki, the timing of mass production indicates that the launch may take place sometime around August this year. We may also see the announcement in June as in one of the previous reports, the company did confirm H2 launch.

The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to feature an Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), like what was seen in the Galaxy Z Flip. It may also cost less and have 120Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile some reports also indicate that Samsung is working on a less powerful version of the Galaxy Fold 2, called the Galaxy Fold Lite. Samsung has filed a patent for a foldable display smartphone that features a smaller notch. The patent images reveal that the phone will have a notch on the inside that is stacked towards the top right corner of the main display. This notch houses two cameras along with a bunch of other sensors.
