Apple has announced that the iPhone 14 will be manufactured in India. This is a bold step as only older models have been manufactured here so far- iPhone 13 manufacturing in India started 6 months after launch. This move could be a huge boost for the Make in India initiative.

Although the date hasn’t been announced, it has been anticipated that India will ship the first batch of iPhone 14 in November this year, just two months after the launch. Apple is seeking alternatives for manufacturing iPhones as China’s clashes with the US continue, in addition to the regular Covid-19 lockdowns imposed, hampering production. (Front Page Tech)

The report says that the high standards of security controls and “stringent seclusion” of China facilities could be difficult to replicate in India. Apple is also said to be concerned about the Indian customs officials who open up packages to cross-check with the declarations. (FrontPageTech)

According to a previous report, India would only get to manufacture the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 in India. The new iPhone 14 Max and the Pro models are likely to be manufactured in China only. So far, Apple has only manufactured the standard iPhone variants in India while the Pro models have been manufactured in China. (GSMArena)
