Amazon announces 20,000 new seasonal jobs in India

Amazon India today announced that it has opened 20,000 new seasonal job opportunities in its customer service wing in India. These new job opportunities are available in 11 cities across the country, which includes Hyderabad, Pune, Coimbatore, Noida, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mangalore, Indore, Bhopal and Lucknow.

Amazon says that most of the positions are part of its Virtual Customer Service program, which means employees will get flexible working hours along with the option to work-from-home. As a part of their job, associates will have to support customer needs and deliver personalised, peculiar experiences that customers enjoy through various mediums including email, chat, social media and over the phone.

Almost anyone can apply for Amazon's new positions. The minimum eligibility criteria includes an educational qualification of 12th along with a proficiency in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada.

What’s more? While the 20,000 new job postings are for seasonal jobs, which means they offer a temporary position in the company, Amazon says that these temporary positions can convert into a permanent position by the end of the year based on a candidate’s performance and the company’s business needs.

It is worth noting that Amazon India, earlier this year announced that it would create almost one million new jobs in India by 2025. These jobs will be created via investments in the company’s logistics network and technology and infrastructure. The company had also said the jobs will be across industries, including information technology, skill development, content creation, retail, logistics, and manufacturing and they will be in addition to the 700,000 jobs Amazon’s investments have enabled over the last seven years in the country.
