LinkedIn gets Creator mode: Here’s what it does

LinkedIn on Tuesday announced a new feature called Creator mode. This new feature aims to enable LinkedIn users with tools to prominently display their content, engage with their community, and build their following.

LinkedIn says that with the Creator mode, the ‘Connect’ button will be replaced with the new ‘Follow’ button. It will also move the ‘Featured’ and ‘Activity’ sections to the top of the member’s profile to more prominently display their content.

Members can also share more about their expertise by adding hashtags at the top of their profile, such as #design or #mentorship to further amplify reach for their content, grow their following on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn says that the Profile background of Live broadcasters will now show their Live broadcast when they start streaming. The company says that this will help in increasing the visibility of users' content.

LinkedIn will start rolling out this feature to LinkedIn members globally starting this week.

Separately, Microsoft announced that it has helped over 30 million people in 249 countries and territories gain access to digital skills, of which close to 3 million are from India. This tops its initial goal of 25 million last June. The company also said that it is extending its commitment to help 250,000 companies globally make a skills-based hire in 2021.

LinkedIn plans to help 250,000 companies globally make skills-based hires this year through new and existing hiring products. The company will provide both new ways for job seekers to demonstrate their skills and new tools for employers to connect to candidates based on their skill proficiencies including the pilot of LinkedIn Skills Path, new expressive and personalized LinkedIn profile features and expanded access to LinkedIn’s Skills Graph among other things.
