Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed II is a vast improvement on Assassin's Creed. Even though the story was a tad convoluted, Ubisoft threw in tonnes of varied gameplay so we never got bored.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
This one was a surreal action game that managed to move seamlessly from gameplay to interactive cut-scenes. And yes, it is the best looking game this generation as well.

Batman: Arkham Asylum
With Batman: AA, developer Rocksteady gave the Dark Knight a new lease of life. The game is high on atmosphere and the gameplay, story and visuals are also top notch.

GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City
Episodes from Liberty City isn't a full-fledged retail game. It consists of both batches of DLC released by Rockstar for GTA IV but both Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony pack in nearly nine hours of gameplay each. Tons of gameplay improvements make this package a contender for this category.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma II
Ninja Gaiden Sigma II was a remake of Ninja Gaiden II but it made the game a lot better by reducing the brutal difficulty curve and adding new weapons, playable characters etc. The only disappointment was the omission of blood and gore that gave Ninja Gaiden II its distinct personality.

Prototype
As Alex Mercer, you were free to roam NYC, either liberating it from evil or adding some of your own. While the game did have its faults, the visceral freedom offered by this game was enough to nominate it in this category.

Shadow Complex
The only Xbox Live Arcade game to make it to this list, Shadow Complex was a highly entertaining, side scrolling action platformer. The game balanced all-out action with platforming and puzzle-solving to deliver a tightly woven package.

God of War Collection
Two of the best action games of all times bundled together and upscaled in HD. Period.

inFamous
inFamous removed conventional gameplay elements like weapons and cars in favour of electricity, using which you could traverse the city and also cause lots of pain.
