SBI online warning for account holders: The easiest way to stop scamsters is by not providing any personal details. (MINT_PRINT)

SBI online has sent a warning and all account holders must sit up and take notice to stay safe. Any mistakes regarding bank accounts can be very costly and the lender has revealed what account holders must not do. The State Bank of India (SBI) online services have gained great importance during the Covid-19 pandemic. A huge number of people had to go online to carry out their financial transactions due to lockdowns as well as the general unwillingness to handle cash, especially after currency notes were dubbed as being a big carrier of all kinds of viruses. However, even as increasing number of SBI account holders had to go online, they were clearly not aware about the fact that there are dangers lurking everywhere, especially with fraudsters running online schemes that are targetted at their stealing money.

The latest thing that SBI Online has warned its bank account holders about is that they should not, under any circumstance do what some unknown person is telling them to do online through WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media accounts or even on the phone. These people just want to steal money and their plan is to get account holders to reveal as much information as possible so that they can get into their bank accounts. If the account holder does not pay attention and gives the information that is secret, including username, password or OTP, chances of losing money increases.

SBI also took to Twitter to send another warning and this is about the know-your-customer online scams. SBI revealed the simple modus operandi of the fraudsters through which they manage to get bank information from gullible account holders. All these fraudsters do is deceive you into thinking they are calling from the bank or that they are company reps and then proceed to get your personal details. SBI tweeted, "KYC fraud is real, and it has proliferated across the country. The fraudster sends a text message pretending to be a bank/company representative to get your personal details. Report such cybercrimes here: http://cybercrime.gov.in."

Not only should SBI account holders not follow the instructions of scamsters, they should in fact, register a complaint at the cybercrime website, the link provided in the tweet above.
