Twitter's live video streaming app for Apple smartphones - Periscope - has added drone integration, a search function and an ability to save live streams.
The app was developed by Kayvon Beykpour and Joe Bernstein and was purchased by Twitter for a reported $100 million in March 2015. On March 26, 2015, Twitter officially relaunched the application on iOS.
"When we launched Periscope, people still hadn't really embraced live video. We wanted to make the experience as delightful and safe for the broadcaster as possible, and one way to do that was to make the content more ephemeral," Kayvon Beykpour was quoted as saying by TechCrunch.
"We have moved past that world in a short amount of time and our community has told us they want the option to save their broadcasts. We're doing it in a way that feels very true to Periscope, and puts the control in the hands of the broadcaster," he added.
The new update will make interactions better over the live streams and the integration of drones will see addition of much better and exciting videos. Now a user just has to add the drone through the app and then broadcast by switching from front and back facing phone cameras, a GoPro and/or a drone. Narration and sketching over the footage is also possible through the app.
