WhatsApp Message Reaction: Here is what you will get

WhatsApp is known to be working on a feature called Message Reaction for quite some time now. The feature, once enabled, will let WhatsApp users to react to a message shared with them using a specific set of emojis rather than simply responding to it through a text message. This feature is being developed for both WhatsApp’s Android and iOS-based apps and is similar to what Facebook -- now Meta -- is already offering on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. In the past couple of weeks, reports have detailed the progress that the messaging app is making in developing this feature. Now, a new report details how Message Reactions would be like in group chats.

We already know that Message Reactions will be available in both group chats and individual chats. Now, WABetaInfo says that in the group chats, members of the group will be able to see who reacted to a message simply by viewing the reaction info. Once users tap on the Message Reaction in a group, they will see a pop-up menu. This menu will have a tab called the All tab that will show all the members in the group who shared a message reaction to a specific message and how they reacted to it. The report also says that WhatsApp users will be able to react to a specific message once and with a total set of six emojis. They will also be able to change the emojis available for Message Reaction by picking the ones that they like from WhatsApp’s emoji library.

Furthermore, the report says that the Reaction Info feature is being developed for WhatsApp’s iOS-based app but the company is also planning to develop the same for its Android-based app. That said, there is no news on when this feature will be available in the messaging app’s Android and iOS-based apps.

Separately, reports have also detailed that WhatsApp’s Message Reaction feature will be an optional feature. This means that WhatsApp users will be able to turn it on or off using a toggle button in the Settings section of the app.
